# People over phone

8

Astonished to see how mobile phone has taken over all the priorities. Few examples will help in remembering what happens many times in a day.

  1. In the middle of an intense discussion, a call comes and we pick it up. Is it not an insult to the discussion and the people around?
  2. In the middle of a conversation, we start looking at the messages or social media updates. Is it not an insult to the conversation and the people around?
  3. In the middle of a lunch or dinner, we start looking at phone or even worse takes a call. Is it not an insult to the food and people around?

It is very much a disrespect to the people and conversation. Not everything coming on or over phone may be important or urgent. However, yes there are exceptions too.

Transform: Evaluate carefully, is it necessary to take call or look at your phone at the cost of ongoing discussion and people. In most of the cases, you will find it is not and soon it will be part of your mannerism to avoid phone almost 100% time. What you will get in return is respect, meaningful conversations and few notches deeper relationships. Also, even if you need to be with your toy and pick a call or check some message or email, have courtesy of apologizing for doing so and then do it quickly.
